Nepal Investigative Multimedia Journalism Network (NIMJN) trained 107 journalists from Panchthhar, Dang, and Pyuthan on fact-checking, safety, and digital skills. The training was jointly organized by NIMJN and local chapters of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) to support local journalists with the latest tools and techniques to report during the pandemic.
On the first virtual training jointly organized by NIMJN and FNJ Panchthar on May 12, 2021, 77 journalists participated. They learned about personal safety, multimedia tools, and fact-checking. The next training was jointly organized with FNJ Dang on June 18, 2021, where a total of 30 journalists participated. 30 more journalists participated in the third training organized with FNJ Pyuthan on June 26, 2021.
FNJ President Bipul Pokhrel made introductory remarks where he highlighted the importance of using online tools and fact-checking while reporting during the pandemic.
Rajneesh Bhandari, Chief Editor, and CEO, NIMJN, trained journalists on digital tools, multimedia reporting, fact-checking, and journalist’s safety.
